RASCALS Lifesaving section

Welcome To
The Lifesaving Section of R.A.S.C.A.L.S.
The R.A.S.C.A.L.S. Life Saving Section is affiliated to the Royal Lifesaving Society and SURF Lifesaving GB. It has a long established record of producing top quality life savers.
The aim of the RLSS is "to inform and educate everyone in water safety and resuscitation and to increase progressively the number of people trained in water rescue." Lifesavers can bridge the gap between an incident being discovered and the emergency services arriving. In effect they can make the crucial difference.
Here at RASCALS we follow the aims of the RLSS and teach the swimmers in essential water skills to keep themselves safe and also the knowledge of what to do in an emergency.
In conjunction with these skills we compete in the RLSS County, Regional and National Finals and have produced many National Champions. All credit goes to those who have shown dedication and commitment to beat some of the best in the country – and become the best themselves! We have a varied programme at RASCALS and in addition to the Lifesaving competitions we teach the rookie program and also compete in speed still water and beach events.
But you do not have to want to be a National Life Saving Champion. The most important element is the emphasis on water safety and the ability to keep yourself safe and if required help others without putting yourself in unnecessary danger
The reason to join the lifesaving section can be made for many reasons. Some feel they need the confidence to deal with difficult and challenging situations. Others want to use their competitive speed swimming skills in a new fast evolving sport.
Whatever the reason for their commitment, it enhances each swimmer’s overall enjoyment and ability to be safe in the water.
Anyone interested in learning the art of Life Saving should contact either Jeremy Johnson or Chris Dening at Ripley Pool on Friday evenings.
