The forthcoming Squad gala to be held at Matlock on the 6th September has been cancelled by Matlock due to structural faults at the Matlock pool, which has led to the pool being closed for some time and will be for the forseeable future. For information on summer holiday closure during August i.e. No training please Click Here WE DID IT!!
RASCALS not only
beat the world record for the most number of swimmers to relay swim
one length in one hour - we smashed it!!
The old record was 137 swimmers set in February 2005 by a community in Victoria, Australia, in a 20 metre pool. On 23rd September 2007 we swam 204 swimmers, ranging from 7 to 60+ in a 25 metre pool thus smashing the old record which has now been ratified by the Guinness World Record organisation. As part of the verification process the whole event was recorded on video - if anyone would like to order a copy (approximate cost £2.50) please contact Chris Dening - either personally or via the link on the contacts page on the website.
A BIG thank you goes to all the swimmers, helpers, sponsors and supporters - the next aim is to raise as much money as possible for Children In Need. Individual swim times can be seen here PLEASE - NO PHOTOGRAPHY! CURRENT CHILD PROTECTION LEGISLATION DEMANDS THAT ANYONE WISHING TO USE PHOTOGRAPHIC EQUIPMENT – INCLUDING MOBILE PHONES – MUST OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM THE LEISURE CENTRE. ANYONE FAILING TO OBTAIN PERMISSION WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE AND MAY BE REPORTED TO THE LEISURE CENTRE AND/OR THE POLICE. PREVIOUS ACTIONS OF THIS NATURE HAVE RESULTED IN PROSECUTION. R.A.S.C.A.L.S. HAVE NO WISH TO BE KILL-JOYS BUT WE HAVE TO RESPECT THE LAW AND ALSO THE LEISURE CENTRES’ OWN RULES. MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL, WE MUST PUT THE SAFETY AND COMFORT OF ALL THE CHILDREN FIRST.
