It is with great sadness that I have to tell you all that our esteemed co-Founder, driving force and long time President, Frank Mansey, passed away on 25th August, his 91st birthday.
Some of you may not remember him well but, until a few years ago, he was to be found manning the reception table at both the old and new pools; watching with pride from the poolside; attending every Championship and the first of the Anniversary Opens, and having positive words for everyone at Presentation Evening.
We do have the Frank and Mabel Mansey Trophies as a constant reminder of his determination to see everyone develop to the best of their ability.
My own memories include his very fair and modern approach to meetings, and never wanting me to introduce him at events!
This page has been specially set to allow comments so anyone can add their own memories.
Frank’s funeral was on Friday 8th September at Amber Valley Memorial Park and Crematorium, Derby Road, Swanwick, and afterwards at The Angel, Crossley Street, Ripley.
Rascals sent flowers…
The Family are also very kindly passing on donations to RASCALS in Frank’s memory.
The Brief History of our Club on this website was inspired and enthused by Frank’s tremendous and unswerving commitment to us all since he helped set it up in 1973.
He will be missed, but always with us.
Our thoughts are with his wife Thelma, and his family.
