After two long and tiring weekends at the Arc in Matlock for the Derbyshire ASA County Championships, we are pleased to report that Ripley swimmers have done themselves and the club proud.
We had 44 swimmers qualify, competing in 275 swims across a full Olympic type schedule of events.
Of those 275 swims, 106 equated in a final appearance and 143 ended up with a top 6 finish, over 50% of the swims entered, which is an amazing success rate for the club.
In addition to these numbers there were a total of 72 top 3 finishes, achieved by 19 different swimmers.
The coaching team are absolutely delighted with the performances of each and every one of the swimmers after you’ve all worked so hard in training.
It is an achievement in itself just to qualify, especially due to the disruption caused by Covid in multiple aspects, most significantly in the limited time to achieve qualifying times for the event.
Really well done to everyone! And we look forward to getting back to the hard work in training and working towards the next few competitions in March and April.
