Fourteen of RASCALS younger swimmers headed off to Matlock recently to compete in Belper Marlin’s Open meet ‘Ghoul in the Pool’. They came away with 15 first place finishes, four second places, and four third places. More importantly, between them they registered 29 personal best times. To swim a race faster than you have ever done before is a great achievement and is an excellent indicator of progress being made by an individual swimmer.

Jacob Whittle continued his excellent recent string of results, taking first place in all his six events. Liam Dawson (11) matched this with six wins out of six, a great day’s swimming again from him. Also winning gold medals were George Whittle, who took first place in 50m breaststroke, and George Atkin (13) who won 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle. George also won a silver medal in 100m individual medley.

Isaac Caddy also had consistently good results over the course of the meet, with four silver medals and one bronze medal. Freya Layton (12) won a bronze in 100m butterfly with a personal best time.

Other swimmers with top ten placings were Georgia Caddy, Rebecca Pollicott, Anna Booth, Cora Stone, Noah Tannahill, Finn Davidson and Joel Tannahill.

Personal best times were achieved in three out of five events by Scarlett Swift.

Congratulations as ever to our fantastic coaching team for the continuing development of our young swimmers.
