Lifesaving

The joined-up approach at RASCALS between ASA swimming and Lifesaving creates a unique opportunity for sporting success at Regional, National and International Level.

At RASCALS, we are one of the few clubs, if not the only club in the country that offers a pathway through from Rookie lifesaving all the way to international events, alongside beach training opportunities, the Survive and Save program and competitive speed lifesaving.

Whilst learning key lifesaving skills, it is at this time that we introduce them to the Rookie level competitive lifesaving. There are a number of opportunities to compete throughout the year at Rookie festivals against other local clubs and they will be showing these skills at the Championship events.

Once our lifesavers enter the senior squads the focus certainly is on competition, and we encourage all swimmers to take part. It is the driving force behind the ethos at the club which has resulted in RASCALS establishing itself as one of the best competitive lifesaving clubs in the Country. We want every swimmer to enjoy lifesaving and take the opportunity to demonstrate what the hours of training and practice can achieve.

We rely on a talented group of senior coaches that have a great deal of experience between them. We are always striving to look at how we can offer a greater level of support to the swimmers and as such we will be starting a partnership with Derbyshire Institute of Sport for our Senior squads. This will provide land based and core training, diet, and nutrition workshops and access to sport psychologists.

Competitive Lifesaving at RASCALS we try and ensure that each and every swimmer has the opportunity to achieve their potential and individual aims. Whether that is to be safe and competent in water, be able to save a life and progress through our Rookie system or to achieve World Gold Medals for their Country once they commence competitive lifesaving.
