Competitive Swimming

Once swimmers have completed our Foundation Squad programme or the equivalent Swim England Stage 7 Award, they are able to join our inclusive Competitive Squad setup, where we develop racing skills to ensure they excel in the competitive environment. 

As swimmers develop and progress through the programme they will rise through the various training squads, to covering over 20,000m a week at the peak of training cycles. 

We actively encourage all of our eligible swimmers to take part in the competitive opportunities that are available to them. Children can compete in team galas from the age of 8 and the age of 9 in individual galas. 

The Club enter a variety of individual and team competitions against other clubs in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and beyond, so there will be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved! The club also hosts an Annual Club Championships in the Summer and an Open Meet in January. 

Over the last few years we have taken a group of our senior swimmers on Swim Camps abroad, to Lanzarote in 2024 and Cyprus in 2025 & 2026. Our swimmers getting to experience what it is like being on a professional camp swimming twice daily in an outdoor 50m pool! We also organise a handful of social events during the year too.

Those that excel in the sport will even have the opportunity to progress to County, Regional and National level or hopefully even further! Rascals have developed many swimmers over the years, including Olympians and World
